In 1838, the first wagon train embarking to Oregon faces formidable challenges as it navigates the Great Plains and the Rocky Mountains. Led by the determined scout "Whip" Holt, this diverse group of pioneers—comprised of men, women, children, dreamers, and drifters—prepares for the harsh winter ahead. Among them, two strong-willed women, the lone Cathy van Ayl and the enchanting La-ena, become pivotal allies in a journey fraught with hidden rivalries and unspoken secrets, all driven by the hope of a new beginning in the promise of America.
