Winter of Despair

In November 1853, Inspector Field invites Charles Dickens and Wilkie Collins to investigate a murder in an attic studio, where they discover a body with a cut throat surrounded by shards of a painting titled A Winter of Despair. The victim, Edwin Milton-Hayes, is an artist connected to Wilkie's brother Charley, who now finds himself under suspicion. As secrets unravel within the close-knit circle of Pre-Raphaelite painters, the trio must uncover the identity of the killer lurking among them.
