In a frozen world called Naiad, the descendants of the Destiny colony ship strive to expand their reach through uncharted wormholes while contending with powerful corporations vying for resources. Amidst rising tensions, siblings Escher and Allie dodge capture in a scheme involving the abduction of specialists from neighboring mining worlds. They team up with a gang of orphans known as mickies, who lack identification in their quest for citizenship and freedom, while seeking to rescue their own parents. As their plans spiral into chaos, the arrival of a second mysterious alien vessel complicates their fate even further.
