At Scarlet House, the oldest building in West London, Massachusetts, mysterious occurrences prompt the board members to enlist Gemma Doyle, the owner of a local bookshop, to investigate. Although skeptical about ghosts, Gemma agrees to look into the unsettling events, only to discover a dead body on the property that shifts her focus to a more tangible threat. As she and her friend Jayne delve deeper, they uncover secrets that suggest foul play and must navigate a host of potential suspects, all while evading the displeasure of Detective Ryan Ashburton.
