Lincoln the Man

In "Lincoln the Man," Edgar Lee Masters offers a compelling analysis of Abraham Lincoln's thoughts and political evolution, contrasting the typical hagiographic portrayals of the 1930s. Having grown up in the same Illinois county as Lincoln and knowing his family personally, Masters provides a unique perspective on the complexities that shaped Lincoln from a backwoods lawyer to the President of the United States. This work serves as a thought-provoking exploration rather than a traditional biography, delving into the intricacies of Lincoln's character and leadership.
