The Man Who Wrote Old Yeller: Fred Gipson, Texas Storyteller

Born in 1908 in Mason County, Texas, Fred Gipson was a storyteller who transitioned from newspaper writing to pulp fiction in the 1940s, ultimately creating the beloved children's classic "Old Yeller," later adapted into a widely viewed Disney film. After his passing in 1973, Gipson was commemorated in the book "Fred Gipson: Texas Storyteller," originally published in 1980 and recently revised for digital release by award-winning author Mike Cox, a member of the Texas Institute of Letters.
