In 1962 Jackson, Mississippi, a black maid named Aibileen struggles with her growing resentment while her outspoken friend Minny faces the challenge of keeping dangerous secrets about her employer. Meanwhile, Skeeter, an ambitious white socialite, navigates societal expectations as she embarks on a journey to redefine success.
