A New Name

A New Name, the concluding part of Jon Fosse's Septology, explores the reflective and poetic journey of an aging painter named Asle, who lives alone in Norway and grapples with themes of love, art, and spirituality. The novel delves into the lives of two versions of Asle—doppelgängers who embody different facets of the same person—creating a hypnotic and meditative exploration of existence. Through melodious and slow prose, the story examines the passage of time and the deep connections that shape our understanding of life.
