Not Your All-American Girl

In this heartfelt and comedic multicultural story, sixth-grader Lauren faces a turning point when she and her best friend, Tara, are separated by their school schedules and decide to try out for the school play. While Tara lands the lead role, Lauren finds herself in the ensemble, challenged by her identity as a half-Jewish, half-Chinese girl. As she struggles to support Tara and find her own voice, Lauren embarks on a journey of self-discovery aided by a button-making venture, the music of Patsy Cline, and the quirky support of her two grandmothers.
