Helm

In a future where Earth lies in ruins, the last remnants of humanity send a group of colonists to a terraformed world, armed only with a strict code of conduct and precious glass helmets containing Earth's scientific knowledge. Every generation, the heir to the province of Laal undergoes intense training for the perilous task of imprinting this knowledge. However, Leland de Laal, the youngest son of a prominent leader, recklessly dons the Helm and becomes unwittingly ensnared by its dark consequences, facing madness and suffering.
