Stranded in a sunless system nine hundred light-years from home, Major Andrew Grayson and his crew aboard the NACS Washington undertake a perilous mission to uncover the secrets of the Lankies. With dwindling supplies, they embark on a scouting mission to a moon showing signs of life, where they make both a hopeful and horrifying discovery: a life-sustaining organism and the unsettling presence of aware Lankies.
