In post-war Germany, American captain Harry Kaspar embarks on a mission to reclaim his lost command in the Bavarian town of Heimgau. As he investigates the brutal murder of three German men, Harry aims to demonstrate American justice to the locals, but his search for the truth draws him into a web of corruption involving his superior, Major Membre, and his mentor, Colonel Spanner. With the help of his lover, Katarina, he confronts the morally complex realities of power and accountability in a shattered society, determined to set a new example for the town's recovery.
