Two Roads

In this poignant Depression-era story, 12-year-old Cal Black embarks on a transformative journey of self-discovery after learning from his father that they are of Creek Indian descent. While Cal and his father have been navigating life as "knights of the road," circumstances force them apart, sending Cal to the Challagi School, a government boarding school for Native Americans in Oklahoma. There, despite the challenges of harsh conditions, Cal forges friendships and immerses himself in the rich history and customs of his heritage, ultimately finding strength in community.
