Caliban Upon Setebos

In "Caliban Upon Setebos," Robert Browning explores the inner turmoil of Caliban, a character from Shakespeare's "The Tempest," who grapples with themes of power, divinity, and resentment. As he contemplates his position under Prospero's control and reflects on the deity Setebos worshipped by his mother Sycorax, Caliban's musings lead to a complex examination of theology and political strife. The monologue invites interpretations regarding the relationship between civilization and the gods it embraces. Narrated by Denis Daly, this thought-provoking piece delves into the nuances of belief and authority.
