James Elroy Flecker, a talented linguist and translator of Latin poetry, intended to create a compelling interpretation of Virgil's Aeneid VI in blank verse, aiming for a level of poetic excellence comparable to Fitzgerald's Omar. His approach was to emphasize the sonic qualities of the original Latin, and although his full manuscript remains unfinished, the surviving sections cover Aeneas's fateful meeting with Sibyl and his journey to the underworld.
