In a world where the traditions of Bingtown's Old Traders are crumbling under a corrupt ruler, Althea Vestrit eagerly anticipates the return of her liveship, the Vivacia, forged from magical wizardwood. However, her hopes are dashed when the ship is seized by the ruthless pirate captain Kennit, who holds her nephew and his father hostage.
