The Poetry of Rupert Brooke

Rupert Chawner Brooke, born on August 3, 1887, in Rugby, Warwickshire, was a prominent poet and member of the Bloomsbury group and the Georgian poets. He attended Rugby School and King's College, Cambridge, where he forged significant friendships and engaged in various literary and social activities. Despite personal struggles, including a breakdown stemming from his bisexuality, he produced notable works such as "The Old Vicarage, Grantchester." Enlisting in the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve at the onset of World War I, Brooke's poetry garnered national attention, culminating in his untimely death on April 23, 1915, shortly after the publication of his celebrated collection, 1914 & Other Poems.
