Rupert Chawner Brooke (1887–1915) was an English poet associated with the Georgian poetry movement. He wrote lyric and romantic poetry, travel writing, essays, and influential First World War sonnets, including “The Soldier” and “The Dead.” His posthumously published 1914 and Other Poems established his reputation as one of Britain’s best-known war poets.
