The Dover Cafe on Trial

In May 1941, as Castle's Café begins to recover and Marianne anticipates the arrival of her baby, the backdrop of war continues to impact Dover profoundly. Bert Castle is healing from injuries sustained during an enemy attack and finds solace in his growing friendship with nurse Dot Calloway. However, when Bert, Nellie, and Edie are called to testify at the trial of the woman who shot Nellie’s best friend, Gladys, they quickly discover that the repercussions of the event extend far beyond the courtroom.
