The Corsair

"The Corsair" is a narrative poem by Lord Byron, published in February 1814, and quickly became a bestseller, selling 10,000 copies on its first day. This work is the longest in Byron's series of Oriental Romances, which also includes titles like "The Giaour" and "The Bride of Abydos." The story follows Conrad, a pirate chieftain who, despite his wife Medora's pleas to stay home, embarks on a daring mission against the Pacha Seyd. The poem has inspired various musical adaptations, including operas and a ballet.
