L. D. Sharpe is the pen name of Lucy Hooft, a British author of the Pelican Black/Sarah Black spy-thriller series. After studying languages and philosophy at Oxford, Hooft worked for the UK Foreign Office and Department for International Development, living and working in places including Georgia, Azerbaijan, Sierra Leone, Jordan, and Gabon. Her international experience informs her espionage novels, which include The Recruit, Rogue Agency, and Code Black.
