Alice Oswald is an English poet trained in classics at Oxford, whose writing career began with The Thing in the Gap-Stone Stile (1996). Her acclaimed collections include Dart, a book-length poem about the River Dart, and Memorial, an innovative reworking of Homer’s Iliad. Her work often combines oral poetic forms, classical literature, ecology, landscape, and close observation of the natural world; she served as Oxford Professor of Poetry from 2019 to 2023.
