Herman Wouk (1915–2019) was an American novelist whose writing career began in radio before he turned to fiction. He published acclaimed novels including The Caine Mutiny, which won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction, as well as Marjorie Morningstar, The Winds of War, War and Remembrance, The Hope, and The Glory. His work is known especially for combining large-scale historical events, military settings, Jewish themes, and detailed family and social dramas.
