Alan Charles Kors is an American historian and author specializing in European intellectual history, especially seventeenth- and eighteenth-century France, the Enlightenment, atheism, and academic freedom. He has published several books and numerous articles, edited the four-volume Encyclopedia of the Enlightenment, coauthored The Shadow University, and contributed lectures to The Great Courses’ Great Minds of the Western Intellectual Tradition.
