Henri Charriere

1 book, mostly biography, for William Morrow, 2012

Henri Charrière (1906–1973), known as Papillon, was a French convict who became a writer and memoirist. He published Papillon in 1969, a bestselling autobiographical prison-escape narrative about his years in the penal colonies of French Guiana, and later wrote Banco. Although presented as memoir, parts of Papillon’s factual accuracy have been disputed.
