Atlas Obscura is a collaborative publishing brand founded in 2009 by Joshua Foer and Dylan Thuras, later joined by contributors including Ella Morton and Cecily Wong. Its writers produce richly illustrated, curiosity-driven nonfiction about unusual places, hidden histories, scientific wonders, cultures, and food traditions. The brand’s books include Atlas Obscura: An Explorer’s Guide to the World’s Hidden Wonders and Gastro Obscura: A Food Adventurer’s Guide.
