Daniel Walker Howe was an American historian and nonfiction author who specialized in the intellectual, religious, political, and social history of the early United States. He taught at Yale, UCLA, and Oxford, where he was Rhodes Professor of American History. His best-known work, What Hath God Wrought: The Transformation of America, 1815–1848, won the 2008 Pulitzer Prize for History.
