Cris Beam is an American author, journalist, and creative-writing professor whose work spans literary nonfiction, memoir, and young adult fiction. Her books explore transgender lives, foster care, empathy, family, and identity, including the award-winning Transparent, the YA novel I Am J, To the End of June, I Feel You, Mother, Stranger, and My Therapist, My Lover. She holds an MFA in writing from Columbia University and has taught at Columbia, NYU, William Paterson University, and The New School.
