Brendan McDonough is the author of Granite Mountain: The Firsthand Account of a Tragic Wildfire, Its Lone Survivor, and the Firefighters Who Made the Ultimate Sacrifice, written with Stephan Talty. The 2016 memoir recounts his experience as the sole survivor of the 2013 Yarnell Hill Fire and the loss of his 19 fellow Granite Mountain Hotshots. He continues to write and speak publicly about resilience, recovery, and the legacy of the firefighters.
