Sy Montgomery is an American naturalist, author, documentary scriptwriter, and radio commentator whose writing explores the lives, intelligence, and emotional worlds of animals. She has written more than thirty books for adults and children, including the National Book Award finalist The Soul of an Octopus, as well as works on wildlife, conservation, memoir, and animal behavior. Her reporting has taken her on expeditions around the world, and she often combines scientific observation with personal narrative and adventure.
