Joe Sharkey (1946–2023) was an American journalist, author, and columnist who wrote for The Philadelphia Inquirer, The Wall Street Journal, and The New York Times, where he spent 19 years as a columnist. He became best known for narrative true-crime and investigative nonfiction books including Death Sentence, Deadly Greed, and Above Suspicion, and also co-authored the crime novel Lady Gold.
