George Alfred Henty (1832–1902) was an English novelist, journalist, and pioneering war correspondent. After reporting military campaigns for The Standard, he turned primarily to fiction in the 1870s, writing more than 120 books. He became best known for historically grounded adventure stories for boys, often featuring young heroes in settings ranging from ancient Egypt and Rome to the American Civil War and the British Empire.
