Ben Lerner is an American novelist, poet, and critic born in Topeka, Kansas. He began his career as a poet, publishing collections including The Lichtenberg Figures, Angle of Yaw, Mean Free Path, and The Lights, before gaining broad recognition for his novels Leaving the Atocha Station, 10:04, The Topeka School, and Transcription. His writing often blends fiction, memoir, criticism, and poetry, and he has received Fulbright, Guggenheim, and MacArthur fellowships.
