Charles B. MacDonald (1922–1990) was an American military historian and nonfiction writer who served as an infantry company commander in Europe during World War II. His 1947 memoir, Company Commander, launched a writing career focused on firsthand combat experience and detailed histories of the European theater, including The Mighty Endeavor and official U.S. Army histories. He later became Deputy Chief Historian of the U.S. Army and wrote A Time for Trumpets, his acclaimed history of the Battle of the Bulge.
