Max Adams is a British writer, archaeologist, woodsman and teacher who has lived and worked in northeast England since 1993. After a career in archaeology and broadcasting, he began writing historical biographies, starting with Admiral Collingwood: Nelson’s Own Hero in 2005. His nonfiction explores British history, archaeology, landscape, nature and human culture, including The King in the North, Aelfred’s Britain, The First Kingdom, The Mercian Chronicles and The Wisdom of Trees.
