Chris Beckett is a British author and former social worker and university lecturer based in Cambridge. He has published short fiction since 1990 and released his first novel, The Holy Machine, in 2004. His science-fiction novel Dark Eden won the 2012 Arthur C. Clarke Award and was followed by Mother of Eden and Daughter of Eden; he also writes literary and non-science-fiction works, including the collection Spring Tide.
