Edward O. Wilson (1929–2021) was an American biologist, naturalist, and science writer who authored more than twenty books about the natural sciences. His influential works—including Sociobiology, On Human Nature, The Ants, Naturalist, The Diversity of Life, and Half-Earth—combined rigorous research with accessible, literary prose and helped bring evolutionary biology, biodiversity, and conservation to a broad readership. He won two Pulitzer Prizes and was widely recognized for both his scientific scholarship and his writing.
