Mariah Fredericks is a New York City author who graduated from Vassar College with a degree in history and worked for many years as a lead writer for the Book-of-the-Month Club. She began her career writing young adult novels, including The True Meaning of Cleavage, Head Games, Crunch Time, and the In the Cards series. She later became known for the Jane Prescott historical mystery series and standalone historical mysteries such as The Lindbergh Nanny and The Wharton Plot; her work has received nominations for the Mary Higgins Clark, Agatha, Anthony, and Edgar Awards.
