Delia Owens is an American author, zoologist, and conservationist who coauthored three bestselling nonfiction books about her wildlife research in Africa: Cry of the Kalahari, The Eye of the Elephant, and Secrets of the Savanna. She has published nature writing and scientific work in outlets including Nature and the Journal of Mammalogy, and won the John Burroughs Award for Nature Writing. Her first novel, Where the Crawdads Sing, combines her interest in animal behavior and the natural world with literary fiction.
