George Packer is an award-winning American journalist, novelist, playwright, and staff writer for The Atlantic. His writing career spans reported essays, political and historical nonfiction, biography, and fiction; notable books include The Unwinding, The Assassins’ Gate, Our Man, and Blood of the Liberals. He has also edited a two-volume collection of George Orwell’s essays, and The Unwinding won the 2013 National Book Award for Nonfiction.
