Neil Shubin is an American paleontologist, evolutionary biologist, and popular-science writer. He is the author of Your Inner Fish, The Universe Within, Some Assembly Required, and Ends of the Earth, books that explain evolution, anatomy, fossils, and the connections between life, Earth, and the cosmos for general readers. Shubin is a professor of organismal biology and anatomy at the University of Chicago and was elected to the National Academy of Sciences in 2011.
