Anita Diamant is an American writer whose career began in 1975 as a freelance journalist contributing to Boston-area newspapers and magazines and later to national publications. She published her first book, The New Jewish Wedding, in 1985, followed by guidebooks on contemporary Jewish life, essays, and five novels. She is best known for The Red Tent (1997), a bestselling historical novel, and The Boston Girl.
