Before becoming a writer, she worked as a market trader, pub DJ and minicab driver; she began writing at 38, and her debut novel, Billie Jo, was published in 2008. She is the Sunday Times number-one bestselling author of more than fifteen novels, including the Butlers series and the Mitchells and O’Haras saga.
