Neel Patel is a first-generation Indian American author and screenwriter who grew up in Champaign, Illinois. His writing has appeared in Elle India, The Paris Review, and BuzzFeed. His debut story collection, If You See Me, Don’t Say Hi, was a New York Times Book Review Editors’ Choice and an NPR Best Book of 2018; his debut novel, Tell Me How to Be, followed in 2021. He lives in Los Angeles and writes for television and film.
