Joe Ide is a Japanese American crime novelist who grew up in South Central Los Angeles and worked in several fields, including screenwriting, before publishing his debut novel, IQ, in 2016. The IQ series, featuring the Sherlock Holmes-inspired private investigator Isaiah Quintabe, has won the Anthony, Macavity, and Shamus Awards. Ide also wrote The Goodbye Coast, a contemporary Philip Marlowe novel.
