Melodie Winawer is the author of the historical novels The Scribe of Siena (2017) and Anticipation (2021), which blend meticulously researched history with romance, mystery, science, and elements of the supernatural. She has also contributed short fiction to the anthology We All Fall Down: Stories of Plague and Resilience. A physician-scientist and associate professor of neurology at Columbia University, she writes fiction alongside her scientific career.
