Peter Hart is a British military historian and author who served as the oral historian at the Imperial War Museum for nearly 40 years. He writes primarily about the First and Second World Wars, combining military analysis with eyewitness testimony and oral-history accounts. His books include The Great War, The Somme, Gallipoli, 1918, Footsloggers and Burning Steel.
