Joy Cowley is a New Zealand writer whose career began with adult novels, including her 1967 debut Nest in a Falling Tree, before she became internationally renowned for children's literature. She has written hundreds of picture books, early readers, novels, short stories, poetry, and young adult works, including the Mrs. Wishy-Washy and Snake and Lizard series, and her books have been translated into numerous languages.
