H. G. “Buzz” Bissinger is an American journalist and nonfiction author best known for Friday Night Lights (1990), an immersive account of high-school football and small-town life in Odessa, Texas. He won a Pulitzer Prize for investigative reporting in 1987 and has written extensively about sports, urban politics, family, and American social issues, while also contributing to Vanity Fair and other major publications.
