Louis Bayard is an American novelist, journalist, and book reviewer known primarily for historical fiction and historical mysteries. His writing career began with contemporary romantic comedies before turning to acclaimed historical novels such as The Pale Blue Eye, Mr. Timothy, The Black Tower, Courting Mr. Lincoln, Jackie & Me, and The Wildes. His essays and reviews have appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, and Salon, and he has taught fiction writing at George Washington University.
